MATERIALS
Every Amfit orthotic is built from materials chosen for the prescription, not for the price tag. Base materials provide the right balance of support, control, and cushioning. Top covers manage friction, moisture, and long-term comfort. Each layer is matched to the patient and the use case.
Base Material
The default base for most Amfit orthotic prescriptions. Available in multiple densities (durometers) to tune the balance between support and cushioning. CNC-milled to maintain shape and rebound through years of daily wear.
Use cases: general functional and accommodative orthotics, sports, postural cases, the 4 million-scan reference set our clinical workflow is built on.
Base Material
EVA core paired with a cork layer for added rigidity and longevity in the rearfoot and arch. Common where higher control is indicated and the patient needs a firmer ride than straight EVA provides.
Use cases: heavier patients, high-volume runners, occupational standing-all-day cases, certain rearfoot-control prescriptions.
Base Material
Available since 2002 in the Amfit material library. Carbon fiber gives the highest strength-to-weight ratio of any material in the orthotic stack — rigid, thin, low-profile.
Use cases: elite athletes, slim-fitting dress and work footwear where insole thickness is constrained, prescriptions calling for sport-grade rigidity without bulk.
Base Material
Additive-manufactured nylon for prescriptions where 3D printing is the right call — geometric complexity, lattice structures, or specific stiffness profiles that subtractive milling can't deliver.
Use cases: select sport-specific prescriptions, lattice-structured devices, R&D and one-off requests where the additive workflow is appropriate.
How it works
Whether the orthotic is fabricated through Central Fabrication, In-House Milling, or the FootPrinter Program, every order specifies the base material and top cover up front. Each scan is processed through Correct & Confirm before milling, so material choice and clinical adjustments are confirmed together.
Specify EVA, Cork/EVA, Carbon Fiber, or 3D Nylon at order. Returned in as little as 3–7 business days.
Practices keep inventory of the materials they prescribe most. Amfit supplies the blanks; you mill on demand.
Submit via Scan App or foam impression; specify your material at order. Same library, no in-house lift.
Top Covers
Top cover choice is specified per order and matched to the base material and the clinical indication. Plastazote, Poron-Plastazote, and other accommodative covers are available across all programs — including the SADMERC-approved diabetic configurations.
